It is only a little bit after 12 noon and Paul, Tara, and I have already gotten so much accomplished. After arriving in the office before 7:00 AM (Paul was already here), we discussed the plastic bowl situation a bit (last night we found that the lids cracked during removal, but the bowls held up well) and began finishing up a dish project that Tara took the lead on yesterday. When we got to a good stopping point there, Paul went over MSU's Computrition food management software system. This system has multiple layers that specific people have specific access to. It deals with items, menus, recipes, and inventory. Paul let each of us navigate our way through the system while he explained the basics to us. During this lesson, we got off on many tangents regarding the foodservice world, which was awesome because we learned valuable things that weren't on any agenda! Finally, our tour through Computrition was over and we were set free to work independently.
We're about to head up to the SUB for lunch and to discuss the plastic bowl situation with the catering and kitchen staff, as well as order Tara's and my food for the weekend (Rick, the executive chef, is super nice and is going to hook us up all summer with delicious meals while the dining halls are closed). It's finally a sunny day, so Paul has decided that after lunch we will get to take our tour of campus and the foodservice operations that we have not yet visited. This should be a great way to spend our afternoon!
This week has been pretty long, but we're in luck! Paul says that we can get off a bit early tomorrow to start the weekend off right! Woohoo!!!
